In this picture book, the cats lead a regular life copied from humans. And the verses about it by Frantz Wittkamp provide the template for the bizarre pictures by Axel Scheffler. He lets his actors with big round googly eyes take a cat bubble bath. “Cats love cleanliness. / It doesn’t hurt to wash. / And in the evening / you go into the tub to bathe.” Before that, they can play the piano with feeling, have dinner and romp outside with friends.
