A drama took place in an apartment in Brest (Finistère) overnight from Thursday to Friday. A 34-year-old woman allegedly shot her husband twice in the head, the Brest prosecutor’s office said. According to The Telegram who had revealed the case the victim had just learned that the mother of his two children had an extramarital relationship. At first, the woman reportedly said that she had acted “to shorten the suffering” of her husband, after the latter’s attempt. “Throughout her police custody, the implicated spouse evolved in her statements on the circumstances of the facts. In the end, she admitted to being the sole author of the two shots fired with a rifle, ”says the public prosecutor Camille Miansoni. “However, many gray areas persist on the exact course of this evening”.
According to The Telegram, the couple’s two children were sleeping in their room when help arrived. They were found safe and sound. As for the father, he was transported in absolute urgency to the Cavale Blanche hospital in Brest, where he died on Friday morning. His wife, a 34-year-old nurse, was taken into police custody before being charged with spousal murder and remanded in custody.
A dispute “about the intimate life” of the couple
“The reasons for the dispute seem to relate, according to the explanations collected, to the intimate life of the couple”, adds the prosecution. The search carried out at the couple’s home led to the discovery of a dozen firearms (rifles and handguns) and “a very large number of ammunition”. The couple practiced sport shooting, say the investigators.
