The third pandemic winter is coming, and it is still unclear whether air filters in Germany’s schools will help against Corona. Instead of a study, there are opinions, appeals, disputes – and lots of devices purchased from taxpayers’ money. How can that be?

Antonio Rosenberger attends a high school in Berlin where there is a mobile air filter in almost every room. “One has the feeling that something is happening to ensure face-to-face teaching,” says the 17-year-old. He doesn’t find the devices annoying, but “cool”.
