Why it’s a hassle right now in schools

No canteen or nursery. In question, a strike movement of some of the 258 specialized agents of the nursery schools (Asem) of the city which disrupt the after-school reception and the catering service.

The striking agents denounce the abolition from the next school year of the replacement pool, that is to say about fifteen flying agents who lent a hand in schools in the event of short-term absence. A non-concerted decision according to the inter-union and which risks degrading even more “the working conditions of the agents and reception of the children. »

“As many Asem as classes” in Rennes

The city justifies its choice by explaining that the service was dysfunctional. “There will be no job cuts, explains Gaëlle Rougier, education assistant. The fifteen flying Asems will now take place in a fixed school and solidarity will be brought into play within the same establishment in the event of a short-term absence. »

Furious at being accused of “endangering children”, the elected also recalls that the Breton capital is well endowed with Asem compared to the average and has chosen to have “as many Asem as classes. In the absence of progress, the strikers have planned to extend their movement every Tuesday and Thursday until the holidays.
