Why democracy is in trouble in Greece – Opinion

Kyriakos Mitsotakis has a number of reasons to be satisfied with the achievements of the last few years. During his tenure as Prime Minister, which began in July 2019, Greece has made impressive progress. The economy is showing solid growth, the country is attracting investors again, the tourism industry came through the pandemic surprisingly unscathed and experienced a real boom season last year. Athens was able to start paying off its debts early, and since last summer the country has no longer been under “enhanced surveillance” by the Brussels authorities. Greece, a trouble spot on the south-eastern edge of Europe? Tempi passati, almost forgotten.
