Why comparisons with others are also important

SZ-Magazine: One is smarter, the other has more friends or makes more exciting trips than me. Why are we constantly comparing ourselves?
Nexhmedin Morina: This is quite natural, man is a social being and thinks and acts in relation to others. Much of this is automatic or involuntary. I’m not a fan of perceiving comparisons as something negative or harmful in general. They are an essential part of our life experience and important in order to learn something about ourselves and to be able to locate ourselves in social groups.
