There is a tent in Herbert Sherbert’s apartment that is humming quietly. Inside there is a bright, blinding light. And the smell tells anyone who has ever been to a Dutch coffee shop what Sherbert needs the light for: he grows weed at home. Herbert Sherbert’s real name is different; he chooses the pseudonym on Instagram to give tips about growing cannabis in your own four walls. It’s called homegrowing. Because his hobby is illegal in Germany, he describes his impressions to the SZ in writing and explains that it all happened a few years ago.
