Why are “company offices” going to appear in vocational high schools?

300 candidates from all walks of life for 64 positions filled. Toulouse is the first academy in France to have hired its ” corporate office managers and launch his network. But for what exactly?

As part of the reform of the vocational path, from the start of the 2023 school year, each vocational high school will set up a business office. This initiative aims to offer young people an opening to the professional world and to create an access point for each company. In the Toulouse academy, which houses 73 vocational high schools, some of the 64 referents will be assigned to several establishments, particularly in rural areas. On the scale of France, more than 2,000 positions are opening up for the 2,607 vocational high schools in the country.

Who are these new leaders?

In Toulouse, these new National Education contract workers come from different backgrounds: teachers, IT specialists or office workers… Some have even decided to leave their comfortable permanent contracts to be part of the adventure. Their names are Jean-Baptiste, Julie or Didier, and this Tuesday, during a meeting with the rector Mostapha Fourar, they were all able to collect the perfect manager’s kit while waiting to pack their school bags for the start of the school year.

What will they do ?

If the novelty of the approach does not make it possible to describe the job description with certainty, these officials will play, according to the rectorate, “an important role in establishing a professional network for young people and facilitating interactions with companies: sharing calendars, knowledge of positions and internships to be filled, professional speed-dating…”.

Managers will organize training time in the workplace but will also take care of partnerships with the “outside”. “They need to be outside as much as possible. They must represent the students and meet with the companies. They must create cohesion between the educational world and the professional world,” explains the rector of Toulouse. And no time to relax during the holidays. Because with these new positions, everything is to be built. The good ideas, the working groups, the mutual aid link between all the departments… It’s all new, it’s all great, but they’re starting from scratch.

What purpose ?

Concretely, these officials will have to follow these high school students and help them in their research. The rectorate did not wish to wait for the start of the school year to recruit because it aims for students “100% recruitment if the mission is a success”. The goal, says Mostapha Fourar, is “to create a network for those who don’t have one. Children who have parents in the economic world will always find their place, an internship or even a job. This reform will allow those who are harmed by lack of contact to find their way too. Everyone should have access to employment and the world of business. These leaders will be their springboard.”
