Curious police operation: Why a woman wanted to give away “human flesh” on Ebay
A young woman from Hamburg experienced what can happen when you simply dictate the sales text for an Ebay ad into your mobile phone

How cold-blooded does someone have to be to advertise human flesh on Ebay on the Internet? In fact, a woman from Hamburg did the same thing. For a user from Kellinghusen in Schleswig-Holstein, this is sheer horror. While browsing under the heading “To give away”, he came across the advert from the woman from Hamburg on Monday evening. He takes screenshots and immediately notifies the police.
Since the young woman also gave her mobile phone number in her ad “Human flesh to be given away”, it is easy for the police to find her place of residence. The search warrant is also quickly obtained. Because this is about the suspicion of disturbing the peace of the dead, explains the police. So the Hamburg officials move out to search the apartment in the Steilshoop district. They meet the woman on site, but she is completely clueless. “It’s an operation from the cabinet of curiosities,” said Florian Abbenseth, the police spokesman, when asked by RTL.

After a brief search of the apartment, it is clear that there is no human flesh in the apartment, but the 24-year-old actually submitted the complaint herself. The way the story is resolved is more than curious, “you don’t have that every day,” says Florian Abbenseth. Because the Hamburg woman is said to have simply dictated her sales text into her mobile phone and the speech recognition then turned the word chicken meat into the word human meat. The woman from Hamburg just wanted to get rid of her unused poultry meat in the refrigerator. And without checking the text again, she uploaded this sentence to Ebay classifieds and the horror ad was perfect.

In fact, the officers also discovered the chicken in the refrigerator. This creepy carelessness will probably not have any further consequences for the 24-year-old. “With a probability bordering on certainty, the public prosecutor’s office will discontinue the proceedings,” said Florian Abbenseth. “Anything else would be kind of astonishing.” And the effort also made those involved smile.
