Casting for James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy has begun. Four favorites have probably already emerged. Filming is scheduled to start in less than a month.
Who will succeed Henry Cavill?” The Hollywood Reporter throws the first names of “Superman: Legacy” into the ring. At DC, the casting for “Guardians of the Galaxy” maker James Gunn’s reboot of the superhero should go into the hot phase. The first test recordings should already take place at the beginning of June. It is the first Superman film in the DC Universe without Cavill as Clark Kent.
An unknown name in the running
David Corenswet is said to be at the top of the list for the title role. His name has been around for a long time in connection with Superman. In 2019, the actor, who last starred in the horror film “Pearl”, started talking about himself.

The other actors considered Superman, according to The Hollywood Reporter, are similarly unknown. Euphoria star Jacob Elordi, Grantchester actor Tom Brittney and Fantasy Island actor Andrew Richardson are also said to be in talks.
Who will be Lois Lane?
Among the candidates for the female lead, Lois Lane has at least one distinguished series actress in Rachel Brosnahan. The title heroine of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is said to have delivered a brilliant audition, according to the “Hollywood Reporter”.
Brosnahan’s hottest competitors are said to be “Sex Education” star Emma Mackey and “Scream 6” actress Samara Weaving.
A Star of the Hour as Lex Luthor
The most well-known name falls in connection with Lex Luthor. Nicholas Hoult is set to play the super villain. The ‘The Menu’ star, currently in theaters with ‘Renfield,’ is popular with DC. He is said to have been number two behind Robert Pattinson in the casting for “The Batman”.
With “Superman: Legacy” James Gunn starts his aegis as head of DC Films. Instead of Henry Cavill, a younger actor will slip into Superman’s cape. The casting could set the stage for years to come in the DC Extended Universe.
The theatrical start of the reboot is already certain. In Germany, “Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 10, 2025.
