It is hidden behind lush vegetation. Located at 319 avenue du Général-Patton in Rennes, opposite the new Saint-Laurent clinic building, the Notre-Dame du Bon Secours chapel stands out in this district where buildings are sprouting like mushrooms. It has been a long time since the neo-Gothic style building, blessed in 1866, no longer celebrates religious office. Desecrated and disused, the chapel is today the property of the city of Rennes.
The latter does not know what to do with it and decided to sell it at auction on the Agorastore website, specializing in the sale of equipment and real estate for communities. “It is an atypical good that cannot be destroyed and the city wanted to give it a second life”, underlines Matthieu Escoutay, in charge of the file at Agorastore.
A starting price set at 30,000 euros
With a floor area of 32 m² and a plot of 213 m², the place is not gigantic. It is even quite degraded and major work is to be expected. “But it has interesting architectural qualities”, underlines Matthieu Escoutay, who imagines the chapel transformed into a dwelling. “There is the possibility of creating a floor with also possible extensions with regard to the local urban plan”, he continues.
For this atypical property, the starting price is 30,000 euros, with an auction which will take place online from July 6 to 8. To participate, it will be necessary to register upstream on the site and make a request for a visit.
