Season finale on “Who is stealing the show?”: Riccardo Simonetti was even allowed to change the station logo. But in the end, Joko Winterscheidt scored with a Böhmermann question.

After Anke Engelke’s brilliant homage to the Eurovision Song Contest, he got his show back two weeks ago: Joko Winterscheidt opened the season finale of “Who’s stealing the show from me?” on Tuesday evening. At the end of the third season, the 43-year-old showed again why the show is currently the best that German television has to offer: sophisticated quiz rounds that have been thought of around the corner and with Mark Foster, Riccardo Simonetti and Anke Engelke three quick-witted prominent candidates in top form – it’s fun to watch. Even if you fail.

For Mark Foster it was already over after the first half. Ironically, the singer failed when recognizing songs. However, ProSieben made it difficult for him and his fellow campaigners: They had to recognize songs played backwards. This was performed by production employee Trebor, who also easily featured this talent in “Wetten, dass ..?” could compete. He sang “Men” by Herbert Grönemeyer “Hey Jude” by the Beatles, “Single Ladies” by Beyonce or “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion backwards. The amazing thing: the correct melodies and texts actually sounded when the resolution was played. Fantastic.

Anke Engelke, at the celebrity edition of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” after all, had already earned 500,000 euros, made two huge mistakes. The strait between Great Britain and France (English Channel, isn’t that clear)? Didn’t she know. The architectural style of Cologne Cathedral? “Gothic” – ouch. But the 56-year-old with what she claims to be a “choral past” (she actually sang in the ZDF hit parade, what it can be seen here), made up for the gaps in her knowledge with creativity. She was unbeatable when it came to making up swear words. “Igelpisser”, “Arschkacker”, “Ritzenlutscher”, Masturbator*pieeeeps*” – never before have so many words had to be beeped away on German TV. “We are no longer a family show,” said Winterscheidt. “I’m so ashamed,” stated Engelke.

Rainbow colors in “Who’s stealing the show?”

In the end it was all useless. Engelke was also eliminated, leaving wild card candidates Lars and Riccarod Simonetti. In contrast to Foster and Engelke, the entertainer had not yet managed to steal the show from Winterscheidt. He had planned a show for tolerance and acceptance of the LGBTIQ community. As a consolation, ProSieben draped its logo in rainbow colors throughout the show (Hey ProSieben: why not for a whole day?) and Simonetti was on the verge of beating Winterscheidt, at least in the season finale. But Harry Potter and Jan Böhmermann thwarted his victory.

Simonetti did not know that Rufus Beck had recorded the German Harry Potter audio books. He also didn’t know the title of Jan Böhmermann’s Twitter diary “Followed by anyone you follow”. For Winterscheidt the two crucial questions. He won the last game with 5 to 3 points and may become the cover boy of his own crossword puzzle magazine. Until the fourth season of “Who is stealing the show?”, which ProSieben has already announced, viewers can while away the waiting time at the kiosk. A word creation should definitely be included in the crossword puzzle: “Igelpisser”.
