Cory Doctorow loves German words that don’t have a direct English translation. sensitivity – this is how the Canadian software expert describes his ability to work with computers. He likes it almost as much a face in need of a fist. The book that Doctorow and the Australian lawyer Rebecca Giblin have now written has a word in its title that is difficult to translate. Choke point capitalism (Beacon Press, so far only in English) it says, and “Chokepoint” is poorly translated as “bottleneck”. Literally means to choke and that’s what Giblin and Doctorow are about: the stranglehold that a few corporations hold on human culture.
