James Norton is wonderful in A place like any other by Urberto Pasolini. In this moving film without being tearful, the British actor plays a thirty-something suffering from an incurable disease who is looking for a foster family for his 3-year-old son. While English bookmakers are already seeing him become the next James Bond, 20 minutes the encounter.
“It’s crazy this story of James Bond, admits the 35-year-old comedian to 20 minutes. When I found out I was on this list, I was flabbergasted. The choice of the production of 007 will only be made in several months or even years! But if that can draw attention to my current job, that’s fine with me. It is certain that this charismatic young man has all the assets to succeed. A place like any other gives the opportunity to better understand his talent and to look back on his career.
On small screen
We have seen James Norton in various series that have allowed him to play very different characters. After an appearance in Doctor who in 2013, he was a repeat offender accused of rape in Happy valley. He then metamorphosed into a clergyman investigator for Grantchester. Style change for The Nevers where he plays a manipulative aristocrat focused on the things of sex … A good springboard to become 007, right?
“Television taught me to shoot fast and always be on my toes,” says Norton. Being able to develop a character over several episodes is exciting and has helped me gain greater maturity in my game. ”
On the big screen
He made his debut in 2009 in An education by Lone Scherfig facing Carey Mulligan. We also saw it in Rush by Ron Howard and Daughters of Doctor March by Greta Gerwig but a place like any other allows him to move up a gear since he is almost everywhere.
“What touched me is that the flm is not a tearful one,” he says. I was able to have the time to develop a real relationship with the young Daniel Lamont who embodies my son. It all happened in a very natural way, which I think is reflected in the film. “

James Notrton keeps a cool head as he pursues his adventures on the big and small screen. “I will not get carried away by the fact that I could become James Bond until no one has officially contacted me,” he asserts.
