Four still young faces appeared before the judge for “violence” and “contempt” this Monday after the aggression of elected officials, including the mayor, Jean-Luc Moudenc, during the Music Festival in Toulouse. On the sidelines of the demonstration in support of the Uprisings of the Earth movement, dissolved the same day by the Minister of the Interior, throwing of projectiles, physical confrontations and insults had stopped the wandering of the city councilor and his team in the district of Saint-Aubin.
Several people were subsequently arrested. Four of them will be tried on July 27 after a request for time to prepare their defense. These four suspects are Maëlys C., an 18-year-old high school student from Montauban, Jules R. and Kilian L., both 24 years old and education assistants in Poitiers and finally, the main suspect Teddy D., a 18-year-old high school student, son of a farmer living in Tarn-et-Garonne. The latter was released on Monday and placed under judicial supervision like his three other comrades pending trial.
“Very serious” students
None of the four had ever been convicted and they led a quiet little life: a graduate of the Beaux-Arts for one, accepted at Science Po for another, “very serious students with excellent grades”, according to Claire Dujardin and Cécile Brandely their lawyers. The profile of these alleged attackers can clash. However, the acts of which they are accused range from “contempt of a person holding public authority in a meeting” and “voluntary concealment of the face without legitimate reason”, to “violence with the use or threat of a weapon without incapacitation” …
The two lawyers of the four suspects await the July 27 trial to shed light on the facts of which their clients are accused. They intend to produce videos, videos to ask for the requalification of the facts.
For his part, the mayor denounces the actions of an “organized pack of the ultra left forming a procession with the Uprisings of the Earth”. The city councilor also gave his own testimony on social networks: “Last night, we did not back down. We were 5, they were 100. They attacked us from behind, including women,” he said. Insults and threats had also been uttered against the mayor: “Moudenc at the Garonne! Moudenc homophobe ” could, in particular, be heard above the throwing of rubbish.
