Whirlwind roar recorded on Mars for the first time – space

Images of the surface of Mars have existed since the US probe Viking 1 sent a black-and-white photo of sand, rock and part of a landing leg back to Earth as part of NASA’s first Mars landing mission on July 20, 1976. Sound recordings from the Red Planet, on the other hand, have only been possible since the NASA rover Perseverance successfully landed in the Jezero crater in February 2021 with two microphones on board.
