The traditional division of roles in the family may no longer be automatic. However, it still leaves unmistakable traces on the labor market: 84 percent of men between 15 and 65 years of age participate in the labor market, but only 75 percent of women, the Federal Employment Agency estimates for 2019. And 46 percent of all employed women are employed part-time , for men the proportion is just under ten percent in the period. For comparison: In Finland or Lithuania, the gap between the labor force participation of women and men is only around two to three percentage points. In Lithuania, less than a tenth of women work part-time.
