They looked for a soul mate in “Love is in the meadow” a few seasons ago, and yet the show is still not over for them. Behind the scenes, the former participants of M6 dating, often the most emblematic, continue to play a role. Thus farmers tempted by the adventure do not hesitate to consult them. Karine Le Marchand reveals that “this year, many came to the Salon de l’Agriculture to see the alumni and ask them for advice”. Pierre, the producer of Armagnac for season 7, recognizes that potential participants can come and meet him at fairs or shows. He informs those whose approach seems sincere to him and rejects those who consult him for the wrong reasons. “If a farmer tells me he wants to do the show for the publicity that it will do for his products or to meet Karine Le Marchand, I don’t even speak to him, he decides. On the other hand, if I meet a girl, and this has happened to me before, who says to me: “dad has been single for a long time, mom left him”… In short, if the objective is really to find someone, he have to go there. If it’s to create a buzz, let him do another show, it doesn’t work.
On the production side, these breeders, producers or market gardeners discovered on M6 stand out as the best interlocutors when it comes to discussing with potential candidates who hesitate. “It’s rare that this happens but sometimes the people who take care of the selection feel that a farmer needs to be reassured,” explains Deborah Huet, director of Fremantle France programs. It is easier for another farmer to talk to him and tell him about his experience so that he can make his decision. Mathieu (season 15) has already helped us for gay farmers who have questions. He was better able to discuss with them, to share his experience. Like him, Aurélia (season 13), or Cathy (season 15), are sometimes called upon to exchange with future participants. “Obviously they have to want to,” says Deborah Huet. In any case, they have easy contact.
Pierre, who met Frédérique on the show, also accepted that the production communicate his telephone number to undecided farmers. Eleven years after his passage on M6, he reveals a well-rehearsed argument. “Generally, the first thing people say to me is: ‘I’m shy, I don’t look good on TV, I’m not going to know what to say,’ he explains. If so, I know how to answer. In “Love is in the meadow”, we have seen it in the past, the shy or the broken mouth wins because people are affected”. He continues: “If they tell me: ‘my family or my parents don’t want me to do the show’, then it’s more complicated. And if someone says to me: “I don’t want to change anything in my life, I want to continue working fifteen hours a day, I want to make my hay at such a time, sow my corn at such another…”, I say to him: “n ‘not going’.
