After BVB’s defeat against Atlético Madrid
When Terzic asks his biggest idol for a selfie
After the defeat against Atlético Madrid, BVB coach Edin Terzic gave many interviews. He did one with the expert from the US broadcaster CBS – who used to be his biggest idol. So the coach asked him for a selfie.
Part of a coach’s job is to give interviews. Among other things, the US broadcaster CBS wanted to hear a few words about his team’s 2-1 defeat in Madrid. To the coach’s delight, expert Alessandro Del Piero was on duty for the broadcaster. Terzic responded in English (“Then we have the big, big, big chance to go to the semi-finals”), as a short clip on X shows.
Alessandro Del Piero is a polite person
Del Piero, who is a polite person, wished the coach a warm “Good Luck” then they said goodbye and Terzic disappeared from the picture. However, a moment later he is back, as the recording shows. Apparently he made a move and asked Del Piero for a selfie together. “Sorry, sorry, but you’ve been my biggest (Idol?).” The last words can no longer be heard. Del Piero agreed, Terzic put on his best toothpaste smile and got his selfie.
The enthusiasm for Del Piero is understandable. The Italian attacker was throughout his life one of the best technically and most elegant footballers in the world. The icon of Juventus Turin won the Champions League as a very young player in the 1990s, became champions many times and won the World Cup title with Italy in 2006.
Good omen for Edin Terzic?
Maybe the selfie is a good omen for the people of Dortmund. In the first half they let the Atlético team lead the way, two mistakes in defense led to a 2-0 deficit before the break. In the second half, BVB improved and substitute Sébastien Haller scored the goal to make the final score 1-2. The goal gives Dortmund a realistic chance of reaching the semi-finals in the second leg.
