It was positive news that Romania’s Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu announced on July 7: Romania had reopened a railway line that had been closed 22 years ago to the Danube port of Galaţi a month ahead of schedule. “From now on, freight trains coming from Ukraine via Moldova can unload their grain directly in the port of Galaţi,” said the minister. Freight companies that transport via Romania’s largest port, Constanta, and Danube boatmen are also booming when it comes to transporting Ukrainian grain.
