On this day, the admiration of the state presidents applies to a few white-painted containers. They are standing in a sparkling clean hall in the Görzhausen industrial park, a few kilometers outside of Marburg. Macky Sall is there, President of Senegal, Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and John Nkengasong, Director of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). Everyone wants to show themselves with the containers – and with the Biontech co-founders Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci as a proof photo for home. Message: We are doing something. But what?
