What you can learn from Tuchel and Alonso – economics

Leverkusen coach Alonso prevails, Bayern coach Tuchel fails. Two opposing coaches, two opposing leadership styles. What bosses in business – and all of us – can learn from their leadership style.

There are bosses who just throw around words of appreciation. There are bosses for whom saying nothing at all is considered praise. And there is Thomas Tuchel. His employees, the FC Bayern players, often have to find out from television or in the newspaper that their boss has unleashed another tirade of abuse at them. “Far too undisciplined”, “headless”, “completely without structure” – these are the things Tuchel says about his team after a lost game. Or: “Insanely bad decisions.” And: “Everyone is just sleeping.”
