Close your bags
Once you arrive at your vacation spot, we advise you not to put your luggage on the floor or on the bed or even put your clothes in the drawers. Bedbugs may not fly but they know how to move very quickly. If you leave your luggage open on the floor, then they will take advantage of it!
It is also possible to leave your suitcase in a closed plastic bag. This will prevent bedbugs from getting into your luggage. When you return, place your suitcases on a hard surface: bathroom floor, entrance or garage.
Check the bedding and the rest
When you arrive in your hotel room or at your vacation spot, we advise you to start a rigorous checking of bedding. Remember to lift the mattress, look at the box spring, the folds and the seams. But this is not enough ! Also remember to look throughout the room: carpet, sofa, baseboards, curtains, nothing should escape your notice!
Bedbugs are visible to the naked eye and leave marks like feces and blood. You should know that she only comes out at night. If you notice signs of bedbugs, ask to change rooms immediately.
If you travel with dirty clothes, also remember to check them carefully and keep them in an airtight bag.
Provide repellents
If you want to avoid bedbugs, know that there are also anti-bedbug kits. This can take the form of sprays to spray before departure, which will have a repellent effect, or tablets such as mosquito repellents. These can be put in your suitcase or under the bed during your trip.
Attention, the effectiveness of these products can be quite disputed by experts. It is therefore advisable to remain cautious.
Check everything when you return
When you return home after your vacation, you must remain vigilant. It is even an essential step in fighting against bedbug infestation.
It is therefore appropriate to carry out a meticulous inspection of your suitcase, your belongings, your shoes and even your pockets! If you want to avoid being invaded by bedbugs, we advise you, upon your return, to put your belongings in a large closed plastic bag for 48 hours: this will have the advantage of suffocating any intruder who may be brought back from your place of stay. vacation.
