what we know about this macabre case

It was 11 p.m. on Friday when a homeless man reported to the police the discovery of an opaque box containing the body of a young girl, in the interior courtyard of a building. The body of the schoolgirl, named Lola, was concealed by fabrics. Two carry-on suitcases sat next to the box. The trunk was found at the bottom of the building where the girl lived, and whose father was the caretaker.

The story of the day

The victim’s parents were worried around 3 p.m., not seeing her return from the college located right next to their apartment in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. The father had informed his wife, who went to the police station to report his disappearance. A complaint for worrying disappearance is then filed.

On her Facebook page, the mother had launched a call for witnesses on Friday afternoon, describing her daughter. Two photos accompany this publication. One shows the smiling teenager with her long blonde hair. On the second, apparently taken from CCTV images, we see an unknown young woman entering a building. In her publication, the mother specifies that her daughter was seen “for the last time at 3:20 p.m. in the company of a girl whom we do not know” in their residence.

According to the testimony of a neighbor reported by our colleagues from Parisiana young woman asked him in the afternoon to give her a hand to carry a large trunk to a vehicle”. He refused, she left. Searches are then launched throughout the building, in vain. Then around 11 p.m., a homeless man reported to the police the discovery of an opaque box containing Lola’s body, in the interior courtyard of a building.

Death by asphyxiation

An autopsy of the body was performed on Saturday to investigate the causes of death. It determined that the girl had died of asphyxiation. The first findings had reported wounds on the neck. The Parisian evokes intriguing inscriptions, 1s and 0s, found on the body of the victim.

Four people in custody

An investigation for “murder of a minor under the age of 15” was opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the criminal brigade.

Four people, including the main suspect, were still in custody on Sunday. Among them are the main suspect, her sister, as well as two men.

The main suspect, arrested on Saturday morning in Bois-Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine), could be suffering from mental disorders.

The two women were born in 1996 and 1998, while the two men, one of whom was born in 1979, are older. No indication has filtered on their possible role in the murder of the schoolgirl.

At least six people have been taken into custody as part of this investigation. The police custody of two men, including the homeless who discovered the trunk containing Lola’s body, have since been lifted without prosecution at this stage.
