The state of health of Chloé, 24, is “stationary” and still “worrying”, the senator (LR) of Vienne, Bruno Belin, told AFP on Wednesday. The chosen one is a friend of the family of the young woman, originally from the village of Monts-sur-Guesnes, who was violently attacked by her ex-companion on December 13, in Blois (Loir-et-Cher), a few days after their separation. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested in Plaisir, Yvelines, two days later. Could the tragedy have been avoided? What happened ?
On December 13, around 7 p.m., the victim was found unconscious in the lobby of a building by the police, warned by witnesses. Transported to the hospital in Tours (Indre-et-Loire), she was placed in a coma by the doctors who treated her. She suffers from “Major hemorrhagic cerebral lesions”, indicated the prosecutor of the Republic of Blois, Charlotte Beluet. His neurological prognosis was described as “gloomy” in a press release from the prosecution.
Who is the suspect in the assault?
His attacker had fled before the arrival of the police. A suspect was arrested two days later, in the Paris region, in Plaisir. This is the victim’s ex-boyfriend. Their relationship began in August before the young woman decided to end it in early December. The prosecutor of the Republic of Blois indicated that, according to the first elements of the investigation, the suspect had been violent with his ex-partner, who had just had an abortion, and had threatened and harassed him. She even had to change phones. According to information from France Bleu, he would have liked to convert her by force to Islam. Still according to the radio, the young woman had taken refuge with her family, in Monts-sur-Guesnes, after their breakup. But she had to return to Blois for work.
Placed in police custody, the man, already “known to justice” for acts of violence, admitted having given several “crushing” kicks in the head of Chloé, but denied “having had the ‘intention to kill’ the young woman, according to the prosecution. He told the police that he wanted “to have an explanation”, in particular about their break-up. He was remanded in custody as part of a criminal investigation for attempted murder.
Why was an investigation entrusted to the IGPN opened?
Two hours before her attack, Chloé had gone to the reception of the Blois police station to file a complaint and obtain protection. But the policeman who received the young woman invited her to come back the next day, with more documents. “This is in total contradiction with the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior”, explains to 20 minutes a police source. The prefect of Loir-et-Cher requested referral to the IGPN, the police force, “in order to know precisely the conditions in which the victim had been, shortly before the facts, received at the Blois police station and invited to show up the next day.
After his hearing on Tuesday by investigators, this major, head of a police rescue brigade, was suspended as a precaution. A decision taken by the director general of the national police, Frédéric Veaux. For her part, the prosecutor of Blois indicated that she was waiting for the report from the IGPN. “I need the internal circumstances to qualify the fault, if there is behavior that can be criminally qualified as a fault. “According to a police source at AFP, the police officer in question had already been sanctioned last August with a warning “for having lacked diligence”, following “a call 17 after a brawl”. “The brawl was over at the time of the call and he did not consider it necessary to go there”, either to find victims so that they could file a complaint, or witnesses, according to this same source. This policeman is now on sick leave.
