What we know about the assault of a woman who had tried to file a complaint against her ex-companion

What happened ?

Who is the suspect in the assault?

His attacker had fled before the arrival of the police. A suspect was arrested two days later, in the Paris region, in Plaisir. This is the victim’s ex-boyfriend. Their relationship began in August before the young woman decided to end it in early December. The prosecutor of the Republic of Blois indicated that, according to the first elements of the investigation, the suspect had been violent with his ex-partner, who had just had an abortion, and had threatened and harassed him. Placed in police custody, the man, already “known to justice” for acts of violence, admitted having given several “crushing” kicks in the head of Chloé, but denied “having had the ‘intention to kill’ the young woman, according to the prosecution. He told the police that he wanted “to have an explanation”, in particular about their break-up. He was remanded in custody as part of a criminal investigation for attempted murder.

Why was an investigation entrusted to the IGPN opened?

Two hours before her attack, Chloé had gone to the reception of the Blois police station to file a complaint and obtain protection. But the policeman who received the young woman invited her to come back the next day, with more documents. “This is in total contradiction with the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior”, explains to 20 minutes a police source. The prefect of Loir-et-Cher requested referral to the IGPN, the police force, “in order to know precisely the conditions in which the victim had been, shortly before the facts, received at the Blois police station and invited to show up the next day.

A decision taken by the director general of the national police, Frédéric Veaux.
