What the heat transition could cost the people of Munich – Munich

The SPD and the Greens are still fighting over details right up to the last minute, and on Tuesday the city council is scheduled to start “one of the largest infrastructure projects since the post-war period.” This is how Mona Fuchs, parliamentary group leader of the Green Party, describes the conversion of heating systems in Munich from oil and gas to environmentally friendly energy sources. The city wants to implement the so-called heat transition in just 16 years by 2040. As a first step, the Committee for Climate and Environmental Protection and the Committee for Labor and Economy should adopt a heat plan. The aim is to show exactly whether district heating, heat pumps or other environmentally friendly energy sources can be used as a replacement for oil or gas.
