That’s it, Apple has announced the program for its 35th annual developers conference, the WorldWide Developers Conference. This year, WWDC will take place for five days starting Monday June 10. The event will open with a keynote at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Here is what this highly anticipated presentation should have in store for us.

Here are the most anticipated Apple announcements at WWDC 2024

During the keynote conference, Apple is expected to announce major updates to its operating systems:

  • iOS
  • iPadOS
  • watchOS
  • macOS
  • tvOS
  • visionOS

First of all iOS because the 18th version of the operating system is shaping up to be one of the biggest updates in the history of the iPhone. This will obviously be the star of this conference, with long-awaited generative AI capabilities. Apple is currently in negotiations with some of its competitors to offer this technology on its devices.

For the moment, the Apple firm is a latecomer and in many respects the iPhone 15 seems anachronistic. When the latest Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy are packed with photo editing features powered by large language models, Apple released iOS 17 with a whole bunch of nice features, but devoid of generative AI.

Concretely, iOS 18 could offer a redesign of Siri, transformed into a voice chatbot similar to ChatGPT. Other more minor features such as a new name for Apple ID and others, still unknown, are on the menu.

ipadOS being only a variation of iOS, the iPad should receive the same functionalities. For others, visionOS should receive significant updates. It will then be a year since the presentation of the Apple Vision Pro at WWDC 2023. Apple’s latest product to date, the mixed reality headset must find a place in the Apple ecosystem. Tim Cook could also take the opportunity to announce its release to the rest of the world.

For others, nothing is certain. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, watchOS 11 could benefit from a major Siri update thanks to AI, but that’s it. The same goes for macOS 15, whose only major changes mentioned include AI. According to the famous journalist, Apple has not yet even decided on the name of the Mac operating system, currently called “Glow” internally.

  • Appla has set the date and location for WWDC 2024: the event will take place in Cupertino from June 10 to June 15.
  • WWDC 2024 will open with a keynote presentation of the latest developments in Apple OS.
  • It is above all iOS 18 which will be the star of this event, with the arrival of generative AI on the iPhone.
