At least four Palestinians have been killed in an operation by the Israeli army in Jenin in the northern West Bank. According to Palestinian sources, Israeli soldiers surrounded the family home of a suspected assassin. There was an exchange of gunfire. Videos showed a cloud of smoke over the site and heavy detonations could be heard.

The Israeli army said the aim of the operation was to arrest two suspects who had recently been involved in firearm attacks. During the operation, an explosive device exploded in the surrounded house. The suspects shot at the soldiers, who returned fire.

Ministry: Four dead and more than 40 injured

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said four Palestinians were killed and more than 40 injured. The brother of the assassin who was killed in the spring was also among the dead.

At the beginning of April, he killed three Israelis and injured others on Dizengoff Street in the middle of Tel Aviv’s nightlife district. He was then shot dead by Israeli soldiers after hours of searching. Since then, his father and brothers have been on the Israeli military’s wanted list.

Since a wave of terror in Israel in the spring, Israel’s army has been carrying out increased raids in the occupied West Bank.
