“It” gets a prequel in series form – but without Bill Skarsgård, who put his stamp on the films as Pennywise.

Bill Skarsgård (32) is not involved in the “It” prequel series “Welcome to Derry” – at least not at the moment. The actor revealed that in one Interview with journalist Jake Hamilton. In the two “It” movies from 2017 and 2019, the Swede also embodied the murderous clown Pennywise – an incarnation of the nameless evil from Stephen King’s (75) novel.

However, Bill Skarsgård has one piece of advice for a possible successor as Pennywise: “Do your own thing. Have fun,” says the actor, who can currently be seen in “John Wick 4”. “What I liked about this character was how abstract it is”

“Welcome to Derry”: That’s behind the “It” prequel

“Welcome to Derry” tells the history of the cinema double hit by Andy Muschietti (49), which plays in the years 1988 and 1989 or 2016. The film adaptation, like King’s original, is about an evil entity that haunts the small town of Derry, Maine every 27 years – for centuries.

In the novel, the earlier terror episodes are described in relative detail, in the film versions they could only be hinted at due to time constraints. “Welcome to Derry” should now catch up.

Andy Mushietti acts as showrunner on the HBO series alongside his sister Barbara Mussietti (51) and Jason Fuchs (36). Stephen King gave the project his blessing. A start date and the actors have not yet been determined.
