Weinstein found guilty again: What does this mean for #MeToo? -Panorama

The film producer has been found guilty again, in the debate about sexual abuse of power he is considered the incarnation of evil. Why this focus on a prominent perpetrator is a problem for the “Me Too” movement.

The bathrobe can no longer be saved. This never-too-respectable piece of clothing has been stripped of its last bit of dignity by former film producer and multiple-time-convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein since Monday, since it’s appeared as a prop in nearly every crime story portrayed by dozens of women. The sentence “When he received me to the meeting he was wearing a bathrobe” is part of the verbal inventory of these descriptions, always followed by Weinstein’s rapidly escalating routines of coercion: requests for a massage, self-exposure (can be done quickly in a bathrobe), forced oral sex or other sexual acts.
