Weimar Republic: the battle of images – Bavaria

The years 1924 and 2024 are hardly comparable politically, but they have one thing in common: they were and are turbulent times, characterized by a kind of constant election campaign. A century ago, Bavaria experienced a state election, two Reichstag elections (May and December) and local elections. One of the dominant themes, similar to today, was the fight for democracy. Of course, back then there was no television, no radio and no Tiktok. The era of broadcasting in Bavaria only began on March 30, 1924 on the 4th floor of the Munich Ministry of Transport – a few days before the premiere of Karl Valentin’s play “The Robber Barons before Munich”.
