Weight loss injection: Why weight can stay the same despite higher doses

Hamburg journalist Stephan Bartels has been struggling with his weight for 30 years and has been diabetic for eleven years. In October he began injecting himself with the active ingredient semaglutide. Here he explains that despite higher doses he is not losing any more weight at the moment – and how he discovered that a trip to Switzerland could be the reason for this.

I recently met a friend, well, actually a good acquaintance, but I hadn’t seen him for a few years, time flies in middle age. We went for a coffee, he asked me how it was going, and I told him that I was taking Ozempic now. He looked at me blankly. I said: The most hyped drug on the planet right now? He shrugged his shoulders. I said: If you inject yourself once a week, it affects your metabolism… “Oh soooo,” he interrupted me, “you mean the weight loss injection!”
