Ten years of “marriage at first sight”: That doesn’t just mean numerous weddings (and separations). But also parties and babies.

The Dating Show”“Wedding at First Sight” is entering its tenth round. In the anniversary season, single women and men once again dare to go to the registry office to marry an unknown person. Three experts select the respective match – but does it really go well? Only during the On their honeymoon, the newlyweds get to know each other and after a few weeks have to decide whether they want to stay together or get a divorce. There has been a lot of heartbreak and a number of separations over the past nine seasons.

Most recently, Cindy and Alex, Samantha and Serkan as well as Vanessa and Peter shocked everyone when their love ended after a few years. But some couples – like Ramona and Stephan from season three – are still together. There are also interesting facts about “Wedding at First Sight”, as Sat.1 tells the news agency spot on news.

More than 45,000 people wanted to take part

In the first nine seasons there were more than 45,000 applicants. Of these, 96 candidates were selected for a wedding – and dared to say yes to a stranger. In fact, no one said “no” outright. However, just a few minutes later in the fifth season of 2018, Tamara confessed that she didn’t have a good feeling about Sascha. The marriage failed in sad record time.

Dress sample and flower stems

48 weddings were celebrated in nine seasons. This was ensured by 19 registrars in Leverkusen, Zwenkau, Neuenstein Castle (Kassel), Seefeld (Southern Bavaria), Durach (Allgäu), Kempten, Leipzig, Wendhusen Monastery, Friedrichsbrunn Kurparkhaus, Gut Ludwigsruhe, Rammenau Baroque Castle, Ereshoven Castle, Thale, Erkenbrechtshausen Moated Castle, Castle Langenburg, Baroque Neschwitz Castle and Lichtenwalde Castle. The candidates tried on 218 wedding dresses. The parties for the TV wedding vows were impressive: a total of 1,220 guests aged between three months and 89 years celebrated with the brave bride and groom. They drank 376 bottles of sparkling wine. 846 meters of carpet were laid and more than 17,000 flower stems were used for decorations. Around 26 kilos of flour were used for the wedding cakes.

Exotic honeymoon and ten babies

After the wedding, the bride and groom go on their honeymoon – preferably far away. The most exotic destinations so far have been Bali, Thailand, South Africa, Cape Town and Hong Kong.

The longest marriage (Ramona and Stephan) has lasted for seven years. The show has also produced offspring: ten “Wedding at First Sight” babies have been born so far.
