Lots of sun and mild temperatures – people in Germany start the weekend with spring-like weather. At the start of the new week, clouds gather.

Germany starts off with spring-like weather Weekend. “High ‘Jasper’, centered over Scandinavia, brings dry mainland air from the east and thus ensures sunny and dry weather in Germany,” said meteorologist Marcel Schmid from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach, describing the weather situation on Friday. “The weekend also starts like spring.”

For Saturday, meteorologists expect a lot of sun and rising temperatures to up to 16 degrees in the south and west of Germany. At the sea and in the Ore Mountains it stays cooler at a maximum of 10 degrees. There will also be unpleasantly gusty easterly winds at times. At night the temperatures drop to between plus five and zero degrees.

There will be a lot of clouds on Sunday. It’s also supposed to rain in the afternoon. “The sun can still be seen from time to time and it remains mild,” says Schmid. The temperatures climb to 10 to 16 degrees. It only stays cooler at the sea and in the higher mountains.

Cool start to the week

On Monday night it will be cloudy and cool down to plus six to one degree. In the middle and east of Germany it rains at times, but otherwise it mostly stays dry.

At the start of the new week it will remain cloudy – but it will remain mild at 9 to 14 degrees. The sun appears in the south. Rain is expected in some areas of the north.

Astronomically speaking, it’s still winter – calendar spring doesn’t begin until March 20th. From a meteorological point of view, spring began on March 1st; The background to this is that weather experts count the seasons in full months for statistical reasons.
