Weather service warns of freezing rain and black ice – panorama

After long, frosty temperatures and snowfall, people in many parts of Germany have to adjust to freezing rain and black ice. This is reported by the German Weather Service (DWD). Freezing rain can form thick layers of ice on the roads and paths at the beginning of the week.

In the new week it will be much milder. However, since the ground is very deeply frozen in many places, the rain at the beginning of the week can be particularly treacherous. Rain is expected to come from the west, which could turn into dangerous black ice in northern and parts of central Germany, explains the DWD.

The meteorologists see potential for severe weather in several regions, including Berlin and Brandenburg, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Bremen, Saxony-Anhalt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Freezing rain and black ice can be expected everywhere.
