The weather in Germany has changed from summer heat to thunderstorms. Storms continue in some regions. But the next warm phase is coming.

It’s hardly July and the weather is turning to autumn. After the heat of the past few days, it has been raining heavily in Germany since Thursday. And there were also thunderstorms in some places. A cold front is currently moving across the country from west to east. However, according to current forecasts, the cool, wet weather will not last long. Because Hoch “Helmut” is already in sight, it will bring calm summer weather again at the weekend.

During the night, a storm front with heavy rain and gusty winds left its mark in western Germany. In several cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, the fire brigade was in constant use on Thursday evening – for example because of fallen trees and flooded basements and streets. There were failures and route closures in rail traffic, according to the fire brigade in the Baerl district of Duisburg, the phones fell out at times.
