High “Philine” brings spring-like temperatures – but also wind and rain

Next Sunday the clocks will be set to wintertime. But the temperatures are moving towards spring again today and tomorrow. However, it will also be wet and sometimes stormy.
A “short heat intermezzo” is what the experts from the German Weather Service call what will appear on Tuesday and Wednesday. The new week starts foggy and cloudy in parts of southern Germany and with a little rain in the north, but the temperatures are rising – thanks to the high “Philine”.
That is because on Tuesday it shifts its focus more and more to south-east Europe and from the west the foothills of Tief Hendrik over the North Atlantic spill over to western Germany. With an increasingly strong southerly current, very mild and humid air comes to Germany.
High “Philine” brings temperatures up to 23 degrees
The maximum values are usually between 13 and 19 degrees. On the Upper Rhine and the Eifel, 20 degrees are possible. Wednesday will be a very mild day with 17 degrees on the North Sea and 23 degrees on the Upper Rhine, but you won’t be able to enjoy the relatively high temperatures without any disturbance.
In the north-west half of the country, dense clouds cause rain and a few showers and also thunderstorms. The south-westerly wind also blows strongly with stormy gusts and sometimes heavy gusts of wind in the high areas and on the North Sea. Only in southeast Bavaria does it remain light wind and dry until the evening.
Weather in Germany partly stormy and changeable
The sometimes stormy and very changeable weather continues on Thursday. As the wind turns increasingly in north-westerly directions, cool sea air comes to us and the temperatures drop to values between 13 and 18 degrees. On Friday the wind eases a bit, but it gets a little cooler with only eight degrees on the Alps and a maximum of twelve degrees on the North Sea. In the high altitudes of the low mountain ranges and the Alps, there is even increasing snowfall. Only on the weekend does the weather calm down and temperatures settle between 9 and 13 degrees. At night there is then a risk of frost again in certain areas.
