Weather in Bavaria: Snow and rain in Bavaria – flooding on the Danube – Bavaria

Rain and snow determine the weather at the beginning of the week in Bavaria. While the river levels in the Free State are rising according to the Flood Intelligence Service (HND), the German Weather Service (DWD) is expecting a falling rapid fall limit in the Alps. On Tuesday, the HND warned of the risk of flooding, especially on the Danube.

At Kelheim in Lower Bavaria, the peak of the flood had exceeded reporting level 3, the HND said. Reporting level 3 means that individual built-up properties or cellars are flooded, regional transport connections are closed or isolated deployments of the water or dam defense are necessary.

At Vilshofen (Passau district) the water level has reached reporting level 2. Agricultural and forestry areas could be flooded or there could be slight traffic disruptions on main roads and local roads. The State Office for the Environment expects the flood situation to ease from Wednesday.

However, the German Weather Service is expecting precipitation on the edge of the Alps and in the reservoirs of the Alps over the course of Tuesday. The snowfall limit will drop from the current 1,500 meters to around 1,000 meters.
