Weather in Bavaria: Several accidents after the onset of winter – new snow expected – Bavaria

The onset of winter in Bavaria meant that emergency services were deployed repeatedly in large parts of the Free State on Tuesday night. Due to a truck accident, the A3 near Wörth in Lower Bavaria was closed for hours overnight. In the coming days, fresh snow, frost and slippery conditions can still be expected in many places, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced.

In Lower Bavaria, the police and fire brigade were called out 29 times due to weather-related accidents, a spokesman said. 14 vehicles broke down or got stuck. There were also several accidents in the Upper Palatinate due to snow and slippery conditions. A spokesman explained that a large part of it was because of broken trees. It was similar in Upper Franconia.

The heavy snowfall became a problem for a truck on the A 3 near Wörth an der Donau (Regensburg district): According to the information, the vehicle slipped, came off the road and broke through the guardrail. The truck then stopped across the road. The driver was slightly injured. Due to the rescue work, the A3 was closed from around 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Emergency services diverted traffic to the Wörth junction on Donau-Ost.

The DWD still expects fresh snow on Tuesday: up to 5 centimeters in the Danube area, up to 10 centimeters in the low mountain ranges and up to 15 centimeters in the Bavarian Forest. On Wednesday night, the DWD warns of slippery conditions.
