Weather in Bavaria: High temperatures, high risk of forest fires – Bavaria

The people of Bavaria are facing a very warm weekend, while at the same time the risk of forest fires continues to increase. “So far, the temperatures have tightened the handbrake a little, but this is now being released and it will cool down significantly less at night,” said meteorologist Guido Wolz from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Friday.

Temperatures are expected to rise to 33 degrees over the weekend. This value could be reached in Central and Lower Franconia in particular. The weather situation will change in the new week, the expert explained. Subtropical air then flows to Bavaria. The result is muggy and warm days and a very high risk of severe storms.

Thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail must be expected, especially from Tuesday. However, the storms do not bring any cooling. According to Guido Wolz, the air then remains relatively warm and muggy at night.

Due to the initially dry weather, the risk of forest fires continues to increase, especially at the weekend. The forest fire risk index shows the highest level on Saturday in the Bad Königshofen region in Lower Franconia. But there is also a high risk of forest fires in other regions. Volunteer pilots from the Bavarian Air Rescue Squadron are on the lookout for sources of fire.
