Weather: Black ice paralyzes traffic in parts of Germany (video)

Watch the video: After a warm front – black ice paralyzes traffic in parts of Germany.

STORY: Before leaving for work, the weather gods had set the windshield to be scraped free in many places in Germany on Monday. But not good with that. Due to increased temperatures, not only here in Frankfurt no snow fell, but rain. This froze on the ground and led to sometimes dangerously slippery roads. According to the German weather service, this was due to the warm front of a low moving over from Iceland. The DWD warned of significant obstructions on roads, footpaths and cycle paths. Less rain was forecast in the south. But even there, considerable smoothness is to be expected. In parts of Hesse, schools spontaneously switched to distance learning. In many districts and communities in Lower Saxony, school was completely canceled. There were delays in local public transport not only in Frankfurt. For Tuesday, the DWD expected temperatures between minus one degree in eastern Bavaria and eleven degrees in Bremen and North Rhine-Westphalia.
