Weather alert: three departments placed on orange snow-ice alert for Wednesday

Météo-France placed three departments on orange snow-ice alert, this Tuesday, March 26, in its latest weather forecast from 4 p.m.

The departments of Loire, Haute-Loire and Isère were placed on orange snow-ice alert this Saturday, March 26, by Météo-France. This alert concerns Wednesday March 27.

The meteorological site indicates that an episode “late snow” could cause “a nuisance for road traffic”. He specifies : “In the Loire and Isère, it can snow above 400 m, which impacts the Saint-Etienne metropolitan area and the Cold Lands: 5 cm is possible from this altitude, and 10 cm from 600 m. The snow will be heavy and sticky.”

Among our colleagues at BFMTVAuriane Bérard, forecaster at Météo-France, indicates that “the current snowfall is caused by the mass of cold air entering the south of the country and precipitating a Mediterranean episode. It is this anticyclone positioned between Iceland and North Africa which projects cool air over half the country.
