Wearing a mask becomes compulsory again from midnight Thursday

Wearing a mask outside will be made compulsory in Lyon and Villeurbanne from midnight Thursday, announced the prefecture, citing a health situation “extremely worrying”.

This obligation will apply “for a period of three weeks” to people aged 11 and over, “except between 2:00 am and 6:00 am,” the prefecture said in a statement.

Lyon and Villeurbanne are thus following in the footsteps of Ile-de-France, where similar announcements were made on Wednesday and Thursday.

Restrictions also for New Year’s Day

Restrictive measures, throughout the Rhône department, have also been taken for the New Year’s Eve weekend.

This mainly concerns the ban on alcohol consumption on public roads and the suspension of the “late opening after 1:00 am” exemption for bars and restaurants, which must therefore “imperatively” close at that time. .

According to the latest report from Public Health France, the incidence rate in the Rhône amounts to 1,010 per 10,000 inhabitants against 760.3 nationally.

The occupancy rate of intensive care units at the Hospices Civils de Lyon stands at 93.2%, including 45.3% of patients with Covid-19.
