Weapons deliveries to Israel: Germany in the dock – politics

In urgent proceedings before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Germany has to defend itself against serious allegations. The state of Nicaragua has appealed to the highest court of the United Nations (UN). The accusation is that Germany is aiding and abetting Israeli war crimes and Israeli genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Just a few weeks ago, on January 26, the ICJ issued interim orders against Israel because it saw a risk of violations of the 1948 Genocide Convention. Now it’s Germany’s turn next: experts estimate that in just two or three weeks, representatives from Berlin will be able to sit in the chairs reserved for defendants in the courtroom. Germany has only sat there twice in its history. The exact date has not yet been set.
