We tested the trampoline for you, with champion Léa Labrousse

Little brother of the different apparatus and the all-around gymnastics competition, the trampoline is an event in its own right at the Olympic Games, present since the Sydney edition in 2000. It has two events, one for women and the other for men. “We must not fail on the big day, that’s for sure, because on trampoline, we don’t have any catching up to do,” breathes Léa Labrousse, one of the best tricolors, who hopes to qualify for 2024. The athlete previously competed at the 2021 Tokyo Games, where she finished 12th (out of 16 participants).

The writing of 20 minutes, who decided to introduce you to Olympic sports on video, therefore joined Insep for a discovery session with the champion. And the least we can say is that it’s really physical to bounce on this large rectangle of canvas! Not yet ready to try the double pike somersault, I was still able to try a few somersaults and I took note of working on my core and my abs!

For Léa Labrousse, the challenge is completely different: firstly to win one of the quotas for France and why not win a medal at home. “I try not to think about it too much (about 2024), to prepare myself as best as possible, physically and especially mentally, because that’s what I missed in Tokyo. I had too much under my belt, I had too much desire and I couldn’t do what I wanted. So I have to find the right balance.” Balance being the right word to fully appreciate this high-level discipline.
