We tested “Spider-Man WEB Adventure”, the explosive and interactive attraction of the new Avengers Campus

Barely celebrating its 30th anniversary, Disneyland Paris is once again making a splash with the opening on Wednesday of the Avengers Campus, a new land dedicated to Marvel superheroes and superheroines. It is the first stage of an extension of the Walt Disney Studios park, also with areas dedicated to Star Wars and Snow Queen by 2025. For the inauguration of this “campus” on July 9, Disney saw things big and with stars, with the presence of Brie Larson alias Captain Marvel in person, as well as Iman Vellani and Pom Klementieff, respective interpreters of Miss Marvel and Mantis. On the business side, the new big boss of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek, had also made the trip. And the park itself, the attractions?

The Marvel Theme Park Universe

You should know that like the Marvel Cinematic Universe in cinema and on TV, Disney wants to create a “Marvel Theme Park Universe” for its Avengers Campuses around the world, and for the moment in California, Hong Kong and now in Paris. In this shared universe parallel to the MCU, no Blip, no Endgame, and therefore a very much alive Tony Stark, on the initiative of these campuses to recruit new superheroes and superheroines. The decor takes on the metallic blue look of the Avengers tower, with, like any good Disney park, its well-placed shops, themed restaurants, characters in costumes and attractions. Two so far.

Catch all the Spider-Bots!

The first one, Avengers Assemble: Flight Forceactually repeats the Rock’n’Roller Coaster from Aerosmith, but in the colors of Iron Man and Captain Marvel. In contrast, Spider-Man WEB Adventure is a 100% new attraction and invites visitors to the open doors of the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, a company specializing in new inventions. Like the Spider-Bots, robotic spiders to do everything if a little temperamental. They begin to multiply and eat everything, and it’s up to you, guided by Spider-Man, in the guise of Tom Holland, to catch them. How ? By throwing cobwebs!

Indeed, once installed in a vehicle and the 3D glasses placed on the nose, you will be able to launch virtual cobwebs with your hands thanks to efficient and precise gesture recognition. Four decorations and in fact screens follow one another, and it will surely be necessary to repeat it several times so much the pace is frantic and the explosions numerous. To the good memory of the Fastpass replaced by the Disney Premium Access. An attraction with no size or age limit.

great marketing

But Disney goes further, perhaps too far. Once Spider-Man WEB Adventure finished, you go out in the shop Mission Equipmentwhere are for sale Spider-Bots toys, necessarily, but also the WEB Power Bands, a glove that gives the same “powers” as Iron Man, Doctor Strange or Spidey but above all that interacts with the attraction. It is no longer just cobwebs that you launch but repulsor lasers or mystical portals depending on the model purchased at 70€ (40€ the base + 30€ per superhero). To become a superhero, it is therefore better to already be super rich.
