We fact-checked the character of Nezir with the stand-upper Ryad Graham

Funnyavailable since Friday on Netflix, features four young Parisian comedians. 20 minutes asked stand-up professionals if the four heroes of Funny, Nezir, Aïssatou, Apolline and Bling, were realistic. In this episode of our video series “We fact-checked the characters of Funny », we submitted the character of Nezir, embodied by Younès Boucif, to the expert eye of stand-upper Ryad Graham.

In the fiction “Funny”

Nezir, played by Younès Boucif, is a comedian in his twenties from a working class background. During the day, he does odd jobs, in the evening, he tours the sets of comedy clubs in the hope of breaking through. To learn more, visit Netflix.

In real life

From the top of his 28 years, Ryad Graham already has nearly ten years of career. Microphone in hand and smiling, the comedian “born in 93” is currently writing his first one-man show. “I try to do funny humor,” he laughs. On stage, he “talks about everything that happens in society, from romantic relationships to Vladimir Putin. I have a lot of derision about what surrounds me, and a lot of self-mockery too. I look at the things we all see, but with my own angle”.

When he started out, Ryad Graham worked as a supervisor during the day, and performed on stage in the evening. “At the very beginning, we were in trouble, there were very few scenes… I am now starting to make a living from stand-up. I play in all the comedy clubs at Barbès, Paname, Café Oscar, Fridge and I’m preparing my one-hour show to be able to perform in a beautiful theater soon in Paris. Ryad Graham has also been noticed with Facebook videos exceeding one million views.

For the record, Ryad Graham participated in the casting of Funny for the role of Nezir. Not resentful, he comments: “It’s very funny that you contacted me to talk about the series. I am very happy that there is finally a series on the stand-up. Between comedians, we talk about it, we say to ourselves that it is going up, there are sets that are going up everywhere. That people are interested in this phenomenon and make a series of it, it’s great! »
