“We don’t like bougnoules”, two police officers tried for racist insults and a slap on a suspect

These remarks damage the image of the police, the court stressed during a hearing on Tuesday of two police officers tried for violence and racist insults. On January 25, three individuals were taken to the Angoulême police station after suspicion of a sexual assault on a TGV.

“There’s no camera, you’re going to hit me,” one of the suspects reportedly said while in police custody. “Yes, we’re going to hit you, we don’t like bullies,” one of the police officers reportedly retorted. The scene is captured by the pedestrian camera, unintentionally turned on in the search room, of one of the two agents.

Deliberated on July 4

The person in custody also receives “a strong slap”, which is confirmed by one of the police officers implicated and judged with his colleague this Tuesday. Six months suspended prison sentence was requested against them, accompanied by a one-year ban on practicing for the author of the slap. The victim did not file a complaint, reports Mediapart. But two associations, Mrap and SOS Racisme, have become civil parties.

In his defense, the author of the slap explains on the stand that he was at his wit’s end and that it fell on this suspect. He assures us that it was the first time. The president is surprised at his lack of luck, that this happens when he is filmed without his knowledge. Their lawyers have highlighted their careers so far without a hitch. The decision will be made on July 4.
