“We are reducing”: BR director Wildermuth about construction projects and Pumuckl media

BR director Katja Wildermuth on criticism of multi-million dollar construction projects, the future of the inner city area and “Pumuckl”, which is not shown on BR.

A tour of the Munich BR premises between Arnulfstrasse, Hopfenstrasse and Marsstrasse is also a journey through slightly dusty fashions of bygone times. From the rosewood paneling in the studio building from the 1960s to the confusing double elevator separated by building parts in the high-rise building completed in 1976 or a parking deck between editorial floors, there is a lot of curiosity. Everything should be different in the new station headquarters in Freimann, which is almost finished. However, the KEF, the commission for determining the financial needs of public broadcasters, has expressed some criticism of the BR’s construction work. The broadcaster has registered 420 million euros for the new building, including moving and equipment. It’s about money from the broadcasting fee. Now director Katja Wildermuth is presenting the plans for the future use of the lucrative inner city area – i.e. what will become of the site when the majority of the employees have moved to Freimann.
