Water bomber plane crashed while battling flames

The situation in Greece continues to turn tragic. A Canadair-type water bomber with “at least two people on board” crashed Tuesday while fighting a forest fire in southern Evia, said Yannis Artopios, spokesman for the fire department.

The country has been plagued by fires and scorching temperatures for more than ten days. On another island, in Rhodes, the flames ravaged nearly 13,000 hectares of forest and prompted the evacuation of more than 30,000 people. Despite all these dramas, Greece is expecting some 34 million travelers during the year 2023, supposed to be the year of all records for tourism.
